But unfortunately, this does not happen in our country, which is normal in other countries. So the country's diplomatic missions are not only at the service of the government and the majority, but also of the opposition, its members of parliament, or even journalists, professors, civil activists, etc.
Albanian embassies around the world should facilitate every citizen who needs their service, and not simply be "courtyard" facilitators.
However, this is not the case. Since Sali Berisha does not accept the diplomatic services of the majority, he has not rejected those services, as he has had, for at least three years, the diplomatic services of Greece.
The Greek Embassy in Tirana was the only one where Sali Berisha went for a ceremonial event within the EU framework. Meanwhile, with the Beleri case, the alliance between Berisha and Athens took on a real strategic character, as it turned into a stalemate and a fierce battle with Edi Rama and Albania alone.
Berisha offered Athens a strategic point to use Archimedes' lever to disrupt politics in the country.
But as we have seen from the developments since 2023 when the Beleri affair began, relations between the doctor and the Greeks have not always been smooth. Especially since the "lemon" MEP himself demanded Sali Berisha's resignation after the May 11 elections. Relations between the parties (without revealing any secrets) are not good at all. But nevertheless Sali Berisha wanted to test his allies from Athens, to carry out a "Strasbourg escape" after Edi Rama's "Jerusalem escape". As if to relieve the stress of the failure of the Ramaduro operation.
And the Greeks, who lead the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, allowed the doctor to suffer that figure, not worthy at least of the people who love him. It seems like an old Greek revenge after 1995 and 1997, when Sali Berisha tried to use the Greeks as a lobby for his removal. The doctor was not in reality wrong, since the late Andreas Papandreou did not like him at all, and openly told Bill Clinton that "how can you support that troglodyte", but Berisha has always been close and confident with New Democracy. Be it with the first Mitsotakis, be it with his daughter Dora, and son Qirjako, but also with Karamanlis who signed the cemeteries, the sea and many others.
However, since 2023, Athens has launched a real plan to influence the creation of an alternative pole with Sali Berisha in the opposition. There have even been rumors of important names. The doctor has of course taken it with a grain of salt, because in the end who does the work and who benefits. But this Strasbourg thing was serious, the threat of revenge in return will be strong...
