Why do you have to be on the "closed list"?!

The MP who emerges from the "open lists" also has a lot of personality in parliament. After all, he does not owe anything to the party leader. He is a freer person...

The most perfect electoral system in the conditions of Albania would be the one we had a few years ago, with 100 majoritarian zones and 40 deputies from the percentage of political parties at the national level. So the citizen directly chooses the name of the deputy he trusts and at the same time votes for the political party he supports or sympathizes with. Of course, the candidate in the majoritarian zone level, in addition to political support, also plays with his personal integrity.

This would be the chance that the voter votes for the party, but it could happen that they do not vote for the party's candidate!

We are now in the conditions of the proportional system at the district level, where the list is determined by the party or more precisely the party leader. This electoral system was voted for precisely by the deputies who today hang their lips because they are not on the "closed list". Then why did they vote for this Electoral Code when they were not convinced of the selection result of the system, that is, that voters directly elected their deputy and there was no need for the "deputy we want" portal.

I personally ran twice in the majority system and won. While in 2005 I was elected MP by receiving votes from the Christian Democratic Party, which I led for four years and then left active politics, even though the 2008 agreement between Sali Berisha and Edi Rama deformed the entire electoral system. Both are jointly responsible and there is no need for Berisha to shout today that “Rama destroyed the freedom of the vote”. If Berisha had not made that agreement with Edi Rama, Albania would be different in relation to the Electoral Code.

To be even more precise, this Electoral Code was passed in parliament together as soon as they agreed on the "closed lists", which since last night have been drawing the ire and anger of some MPs, whose interests have been affected.

Of course, there could have been better choices in both camps, but in a way, it must be understood that even the "open lists" are a "majoritarian" within your coalition or party. When you are convinced that you have merit, that the membership and voters trust you, you go into confrontation even among the "brothers and sisters" of your political force, and the best one wins.

For this we have the example of Fatmir Xhafa in the last parliamentary elections. A man of integrity, a strong personality and who entered the "sea on foot", surprising everyone in the SP. And he won! Even after this he showed that it is not the party that keeps him in politics, but he increases and increases the SP quotas!

The MP who emerges from the "open lists" also has more personality in parliament. After all, he does not owe anything to the party leader. He is a freer person. Even tomorrow, if his political force wins, he can vote against a decision or draft law of his government, when he is not convinced of its usefulness.

To their credit, the gossip or accusations that they left me out of the "closed list" have no effect on the people. In a way, it was not you who gave your political strength, but you who took power from the party, whether you were in opposition or even in power.
