Once upon a time, the line at Berisha's office was several kilometers long with people waiting to run on behalf of the DP for Tirana.
Ermal Hasimja proposed by the Opportunity Party, Edlira Çepani, former leader of "Shqipëria Bëhet", Florian Haçkaj from the "Diaspora" association, are the three names that will be placed on Berisha's table today, after the entire parliamentary group refused to run.
The reason is simple: no one was ready to risk their MP mandate for a race they couldn't win, that of the Municipality of Tirana. But will Berisha kneel down and surrender, lowering himself and extending his hand to small parties or associations?
The Democratic Party once didn't need coalitions. It competed alone and brought out strong personalities in the battle for Tirana: Sokol Olldashi, Besnik Mustafai, Lulzim Basha, Spartak Ngjela, Halim Kosova.

Today, Berisha has reached the end:
• The respected doctor Halim Kosova is no more, but prays to his nephew from the diaspora.
• There is no more Lulzim Basha, who created, designed and personally invested 20 years as the next prime minister, but he turns to Ermal Hasime, whom he was close to but distanced himself from during the KOP era.
• Gerti Bogdani, who refused to run for Tirana, is no more, but today he is praying to his widowed wife, Edlira.
Ermali, Edlira and Floriani are personalities who deserve a lot of respect – not only for their integrity in their professions, but also because they have, without wanting to, brought Berisha to his knees in the eyes of the public. Their candidacy reflects two bitter truths:
First, the DP has exhausted human resources and has turned into a barren land, where oak trees have been cut down since they were saplings.
Secondly, Berisha is looking for a name outside the party, so that he can then blame the loss on him.
Unfortunately, even before the candidacy was announced, internal attacks and smears began: all three were accused of being "Sorosites", "anti-Berisha", "communists".
Will they accept being used as an alibi for the Democratic Party's defeat?
This is their problem and it is not up to anyone to interfere with their future plans.
However, one thing is certain: Berisha doesn't approach them to win. He only needs them to share the loss.
The Mayor of Tirana has always been considered a stepping stone to becoming prime minister. Berisha did not reserve this privilege for Edlira, Ermal or Florian. They have been there for a long time, but they have never been considered for even symbolic positions.
Now, he simply needs them to sign a defeat that will be forgotten on November 7, just 24 hours after the result. Today, Berisha has not only forgotten how to win; he now even chooses defeats without dignity, becoming ridiculous in the eyes of the public.
Don't forget: the DP lost Tirana even when Berisha was prime minister, even when he was counting the votes together with Ilir Meta.
