It is not simply poverty, backwardness, being a small people that puts a people under the rule of a tyranny or oligarchy. But it is the lack and weakness of the will. It is what Hegel said that "someone who is a slave remains in his own will, just as he remains in the will of a people when he is put under the yoke".
He further said that "it is not the injustice of those who enslave, but of the enslaved themselves who are put under the yoke".
Our problem as a society is this enslavement of wills before the enslavement of those over us. Our consciences are enslaved, above all, in the way we conceive of ourselves as mere spiritual beings, with no rights beyond bread. Our greatest right is that of nutrition. If in the evening we have secured the morsel, then we are all right. These peoples are involuntary. Who do not have the ability to demand more from themselves and from their rulers. A nation that seeks justice must first of all be righteous itself. If he is going to seek honesty, he must not be dishonest. In order to seek work and dignity, he must be hardworking and dignified. To seek democracy, he must first think democratically. In order to seek the rule of law, he must first respect the law itself. We are between the paradox of what MUST be done and what some people want to be done.
Therefore, politics in these years of the Albanian transition has done nothing but know how to use the vices and weaknesses of a part of the voters in an excellent way. Therefore, what is most NEEDED today is the creation of a MODEL in which we must believe and "justify" ourselves in front of society. The model of the good and the honest, the model of those who will not steal, but will serve. The model of those who know how to say NO when necessary, just as they know how to say YES when necessary. We must start thinking that POWER is in function of building the STATE and not the other way around. We must give up the sacrifice of the state for power. We must educate through the model of goodness. For society to have a MIRROR to see itself. Then it remains for her to blush or tan.
