SPAK, the new opposition? A time bomb that endangers justice reform!

SPAK's investigations can never create a political logic other than one of power to overthrow the long-standing fortress of impunity.

When the Pool Mani Pulite group of Milan launched the famous anti-corruption operation in Italy in 1992, the key figure in this core of the prosecution, Antonio di Pietro, had 70% popularity.

Di Pietro had overthrown the old political class, but in fact he had provoked the arrival of a character who was more or less a follower of the old class, having been its client. This character was called Silvio Berlusconi and he became Prime Minister of Italy in 1994. Berlusconi is the king of the polls not only in Europe, but also in the world. Both in the economic activity of his businesses, the audience of television and print media, but also in his entry into politics.

Berlusconi measured or calculated the perception of sociological surveys that turned out to be accurate, for all aspects of his activity. In the Publitalia surveys, Antonio di Pietro was the most popular person in Italy with 70% of the perception. Fixed as it is today Altin Dumani and SPAK.

Berlusconi called Di Pietro and told him that he felt jealous of his popularity, offering him the position of number two in the government and the portfolio of Minister of the Interior. Di Pietro did not accept but politely said thank you. Two weeks later he sent him a request to appear at the prosecutor's office. Where Silvio Berlusconi was under investigation for corruption of the financial police. That's where the horror began; Berlusconi took all the inspectors of the Ministry of Justice to the Milan prosecutor's office. To blacken everyone's lives. However, the evidence was found and Berlusconi was called under investigation.

But this situation created a clash, Di Pietro was no longer the one who sought to investigate the old impunity, but the new politicians. The media close to Berlusconi brought out a ridiculous situation of Di Pietro having taken a car from a character linked to crime when he was a police officer. Di Pietro resigned and entered politics against Berlusconi. He formed a small party that did not have great results but in the end, he was one of the politicians who influenced Berlusconi's departure as Prime Minister in 2011.

Unlike Di Pietro, his colleagues remained in the justice system. Because their battle was not about individuals, even though they had many failures in their work, they ultimately gave a signal.

SPAK is a true institutional revolution in Albania, which came as a result of all the experiences in Europe and the region. Even its opponents, namely Sali Berisha's supporters, say that SPAK is a counterpart of Di Pietro created by the Americans to eliminate the political class in Albania.

In fact, this is a big fake news. Neither in Italy, nor in Croatia, nor in Romania, has the political class been blown up anywhere. In Italy, there was only one effect. He was Bettino Craxi, the charismatic leader of the Italian socialists. An authoritarian leader, who had a hygienic distance with both the USA and the Soviet Union. But who on one occasion showed the Americans the place, by sending the carabinieri. Craxi, after that, had an obsession with what the Americans were doing and escaped to Tunisia, even though he was very sick with diabetes. The Craxi case created a sentimental relationship, which although it did not help the leader of the Italian socialists, his family and close friend Silvio Berlusconi, gave them success in politics.

In this logic, SPAK in Albania was not created as a political instrument, even though the people within it are connected to politics, as they were elected in a mechanism where both the SP and the DP had the appropriate weight. But SPAK investigations can never create a political logic other than a power to overthrow the long fortress of impunity. If SPAK prosecutors enter the game of the unpunished, they are no longer prosecutors, but simply servants of the untouchables.
