The first time it considered it an unconstitutional measure according to its own constitutional framework, this time it was accepted as a court decision. Hostage to the Balkan mentality that sees strength only in its demonstration, Berisha was finally freed from the illusion that the collision course with the justice system can bring any tears to the one who chooses to collide. That this original Albanian variant of "civil disobedience" has a goal and the bluff turned out to be a bluff.
There is nothing more depressing than judging past actions by avoiding the temporal context in which they occurred and only by the results they caused in the future. This is both harmful and not very helpful. It's more disappointing, especially when her suffering isn't worth the lesson. In politics, past actions often have a price that changes more than just the fate of a few individuals in the future; they also change the fate of the whole society in some cases. As it was, the word comes, the criminal act of burning the mandates of DP deputies in the winter of 2019 or their boycott in the local elections in the summer of the same year.
The decision of the appeal court against Mr. Berisha is clearly the same. In a full calendar year, before the judicial investigation has yet started, after dozens of decisions throughout the pyramid of the system, Mr. Berisha has almost the same legal status in front of the accusation as in the winter of last year. No one, except him, has paid in this time frame as much as him and like him, the epic sacrifice to oppose the system with means outside the system. Almost a year of house arrest, with a handful of faithful who were waiting for "god from the sky" to come down to them like in the ancient theater, today it looks like a vain walk in the small ring of Tirana, to reach the same station where they started . In all likelihood, this is a blunder that will be paid for in May 2025 as a bill of political misjudgment, just like the burning of mandates and the boycott of the 2019 elections.
No one knows better than Berisha, and a few people around him, that everything that happened should have been avoided from the beginning. Berisha should have simply implemented it and then countered it with the system's own means. Even the constitutional court was against his claim that the permission of the Assembly should be sought to compel him to appear before the judicial police officer. Even the minimal logic says that the "defects" of the system are solved only within the system. And as Berisha himself is happy to admit, "When the caddy abuses you, you can only complain to the caddy!".
Admitting that this time he will implement the decision of the appeal court regarding the security measure against him, Berisha has silently accepted the fatal mistake he made a year ago. But this is not a problem for any of those who blindly follow him and blindly trust him in what he says and what he does, or even act as if they believe him, but have no desire to oppose him, just like the socialists in front of Edi Rama do. After all, even when the ax cuts through the forest, one must remember that the tail was made of wood. And he took it from the forest.
