The Greek police have reacted after the arrest of the much-wanted Jani Alia in Athens.
According to the Greek police, he was caught by chance on the morning of December 31 by the "DIAS" team, which checked him as a suspicious person while walking on the street. During the check of his data in the electronic system that the Greek policemen carry with them, it turned out that he was carrying a fake Greek identity card and for this reason he was taken to the Moskato police station for further investigation.
From further verification in the system, it turned out that he had escaped from the prison of Corfu, where he was serving a sentence of life imprisonment plus 2 years plus 12 months for the murder of an Albanian citizen, serious injury and possession of weapons without a permit, for events that occurred in in 2006 in Athens.
It also turned out that this citizen was wanted internationally for two cases of murder, which occurred in Albania in October 2015 and May 2016.
The identities of Jani Alias are revealed
Sources near the Greek police inform that Jani Alia also used the identity Aleksan Kreshnik, born in 1976. His arrest is said to have happened at 10.25 on December 31 in the place called "Platonos kai Korai" in Moskato, Athens.
