Former traffic chief in Vlora, currently border police officer in Dibër, Ardian Isufi has been suspended from duty due to his involvement in an incident in a bar in Vlora, where he punched a waiter.
Sources from the scene and video footage show that the former head of Vlora's traffic police, Ardian Isufi, together with Leart Bimon, a person with a serious criminal record, exercised physical and verbal violence against a young waiter, just because he had brought one more bottle of water to the table than the order.
According to witnesses, Isufi was seen approaching the waiter in a threatening manner, while Leart Bimo then physically attacked him several times, seriously endangering the young man's life. The violence was committed in front of customers who fled the bar, terrified by the scene.
Meanwhile, the young man has filed a police report and has been questioned by Vlora police, along with other hotel employees and witnesses.
According to him, the argument started at the table, where Isufi and Bimo claimed that the waiter had sent them an extra bottle of water. There they began to insult him and then followed him from the table to the counter, where they also resorted to violence.
State Police Response
A police officer involved in an off-duty physical altercation in the city of Vlora is suspended from duty.
After being involved in a physical conflict outside of duty hours, in the premises of a bar in the "Pavarësia 2" neighborhood, Vlora, the General Director of the State Police, Major General Ilir Proda, has ordered the immediate suspension from duty, until the circumstances are fully clarified, of the Border Police officer from Dibër.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Professional Standards in the State Police has initiated serious disciplinary proceedings against Deputy Commissioner AI, serving as a Police Officer at the Border Police Commissariat in Dibër, based on Law No. 82/2024 "On the State Police", which provides for measures for:
-cases of behavior that discredits the image and damages public trust in the State Police, committed outside the exercise of duty;
-committing actions that seriously harm the image of the police officer, the institution or the police service as a whole.
From the first investigative actions it resulted that Deputy Commissioner AI, off-duty and in the company of citizen LB, 57 years old, resident of the “Pavarësia” neighborhood, Vlorë, initially had a physical conflict with citizen AB, 18 years old. After the conflict escalated, citizens VB, 53 years old, owner of a hotel in the “Pavarësia 2” neighborhood, and EM were also involved.
Currently, Deputy Commissioner AI is hospitalized at the Vlora Regional Hospital.
In this case, procedural actions are continuing by Judicial Police officers at the Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with the Police Supervision Agency.
The State Police remains determined to react decisively to any case that violates the trust of citizens. It invites citizens to denounce any illegal action or inappropriate behavior by its employees, guaranteeing impartial treatment in accordance with the law.
