The court of Elbasan has released the two Russians Svetlana Timofevaa and Mikhail Zorin as well as the Ukrainian Fedir Alpatov from prison due to the investigative deadlines.
According to the sources in the Court of Elbasan, it is known that Timofeva and Alpatov will remain under the mandatory appearance measure, while Zorin has been placed under house arrest and this measure will be in force until the investigation is closed. Two Russians have had their passports blocked to prevent them from leaving the country.
We recall that at the end of August of last year, Svetlana Valerevna Timoveva together with Mikhail Zorin and Fedis Alpatov tried to enter the former military factory in Gramsh, but when they were spotted by the soldiers guarding the facility, they tried to escape. In a moment of confrontation between them and two military guards of the facility, they threw incendiary spray at them, blinding them for a short period of time.
Meanwhile, immediately after the arrest and accusations of espionage, they were sentenced to prison, a measure that was also upheld by the appeal of Durrës. Investigations into their activity have been repeatedly postponed by the Elbasan prosecutor's office in anticipation of taking the case to trial.
Also after the arrest, Russia brought a letter to our country requesting the extradition of the Russian Svetlana Valerievna Timoveva, after being accused of "Illegal obtaining of information that constitutes a state secret", but the young woman requested political asylum saying that she has openly opposed the president Russian, Vladimir Putin, and therefore his life may be in danger.
Then the court of Elbasan decided that Timoveva should not be extradited to Russia with the argument that her life is in danger.
