The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has imposed the security measure "compulsory appearance" on Denada Toda, who was extradited from Germany to Albania on behalf of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK).
The decision was made following the request of SPAK prosecutor Behar Dibra. Toda is under investigation for the criminal offense of "disclosure of data of secret acts", within the framework of the investigations of Operation "Golden Bullet 2".
The arrest warrant for Denada Toda, also known by the surname Runaj, was issued on July 29, 2024, exactly the day the family commemorated the fourth anniversary of the murder of her brother, Regis Runaj. According to the file, on that day the family members had paid homage at the victim's grave, and were later notified by the Police about the execution of the "house arrest" security measure, imposed by SPAK against Denada Toda.
According to SPAK, during the period September-October 2020, when she was working as a judicial secretary at the Elbasan Court, Toda is suspected of having forwarded documents containing secret data to various persons, violating investigative secrecy. For this reason, she is being investigated for the criminal offense of "disclosure of secret acts or data."
Denada Toda has served for more than ten years as a judicial secretary in the courts of Tirana and Elbasan, where she worked alongside former judge Pajtime Fetahu.
She is the sister of Regis Runaj, who was killed on July 29, 2020 in Elbasan. For this event, Euglen Halili was sentenced to 17 years in prison, while Xhuljano Hoxha was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murders of Regis Runaj and Emiljano Ramazan. Meanwhile, Erjon Alibej has been taken as a defendant and is awaiting trial, along with other persons, for other criminal events.
According to the court file, the murder of Regis Runaj was committed with a knife. Referring to the evidence administered in the process, Euglen Halili initially stabbed the victim while the two were riding a motorcycle. After falling from the motorcycle, he continued to stab him until Runaj lost his life. The acts show that the victim received a total of 27 stab wounds.
After the crime, Halili fled on the victim's motorcycle. Police investigations led to the seizure of the vehicle, where traces of Regis Runaj's blood were found, as well as a fingerprint attributed to Euglen Halili. According to the file, after being confronted with the evidence, Halili agreed to cooperate with justice and declared that the organizer of the murder was Xhuljano Hoxha, while indicating that the murder weapon, a knife, had been thrown into the Shkumbin River.
