The Court of First Instance in Vlora has decided the security measure "prison arrest" for 35-year-old Luciano Deraj.
The young man was arrested three days ago in the village of Babicë, where an arsenal of various weapons was found in his apartment.
Luciano Deraj was arrested during an operation by the Vlora police together with the RENEA forces. The court session started at 11:00 this Sunday afternoon and took place behind closed doors.
It is learned that during the court session, Deraj did not speak, giving no reaction, except for the questions addressed by the relator of this session.
The judge of the case who gave the decision was Lirza Sinollari. She has described the evidence as sufficient, the arrest in flagrante delicto, to leave Luciano Deraj in the measure of "prison arrest".
A number of criminal offenses burden him, but Luciano Deraj is also suspected of a number of other criminal events as being involved in the city.
Investigations continue to uncover more about his involvement, or the criminal group he was a part of.
Deraj is suspected of belonging to a criminal group, which cooperated with the late Edison Harizaj (known as Faqedjeguri) and some of them are listed in the file of missing persons in Vlora. According to the police, after the murder of Harizaj, Deraj and the other members of the group have come to the attention of their closeness to Ines Hajrulla, who has been the victim of several assassinations over the last few years, but also to the Llanaj tribe.
Deraj cooperated with several criminal groups in Vlora, Fier and other cities. The weapons have been sent to the Police Scientific Laboratory for Ballistics Expertise for examination as some of them are suspected to have been used in some recent crime incidents.
It is even suspected that the snipers found, one of them, may have been used in the execution of Gëzim Sinomat, an event in January of this year.
As for the arsenal of weapons that included snipers, pistols, Kalashnikovs, cartridges, masks, pairs, radio receivers and remote-controlled mines, it is underlined that it is the largest ever found in the coastal city. Because of the 7.65mm caliber, the sniper that was seized is suspected to have been used in the last execution that took place in Vlora.
The silicone masks that were found are used to change the image of the group members and the plastic bombs to avoid being caught by the detectors. They are included in the list of the most advanced tools used by this group to which Deraj belongs.
