A serious event happened at noon today where a 17-year-old girl died after being affected by bacterial meningitis.
It is learned that the teenager was presented at the Durrës hospital the day before and then went to the QSUT. The 17-year-old lost her life this morning.
Meanwhile, her family members and medical personnel are being treated as bacterial meningitis is contagious. Unlike other countries, in our country the vaccine against meningitis is not included in the mandatory vaccination calendar.
Meningitis is a bacterial disease that affects the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. By attacking these membranes that are responsible for protecting the central nervous system, the organism becomes more vulnerable and weak. Thus the consequences of the disease can be fatal.
