A 66-year-old woman was arrested in Fier, after trying to smuggle drugs into the prison where she was going to meet a detainee.
66-year-old Limoza Xhelali had hidden the drug in sneakers and then put it in prison, where she would meet the detainee Mariglen Gashi.
According to the police, the drugs were found during a detailed check, where items from family members are passed who, through meetings with prisoners or detainees, are also allowed to bring in food.
The 66-year-old woman arrested today is suspected of introducing the narcotic cannabis sativa, with a total weight of 32.45 grams.
"Today, on August 23, 2024, at the Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions (IEVP) Fier, during an inspection with the aim of preventing and ascertaining prohibited items referred to and data from operational intelligence, employees of the IEPV and the Control Service of Inside the Prison System, they found and seized a quantity of narcotics suspected to be cannabis sativa, with a total weight of 32.45 grams.
The narcotic substance was discovered during the physical control of the family member Limoza Bahi Xhelali, born on September 16, 1958, who was preparing to meet the detainee Mariglen Gashi, arrested for theft. The control was carried out in the part of Ms. Xelali's sneakers, where the suspected narcotic substance was found, which was immediately seized as material evidence and will be sent for further forensic examinations.
Regarding this case, the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance, Fier General Jurisdiction, was immediately informed, who is following the further procedural actions.
Following the investigations, a check was also carried out in the apartment of citizen Limoza Xhelali by Lushnje police forces, where no illegal items were found.
The Internal Control Service in the Prison System is continuing with the necessary procedural actions.
Citizen Limoza Xhelali was arrested and charged with "Introduction or possession of prohibited items in the IEVP" and "Production and sale of narcotics", based on articles 324/a and 283 of the Criminal Code, the police announced.
