86-year-old Njazi Raki Ceka, sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, was found dead in the toilet of his prison room.
The General Directorate of Prisons informs that from preliminary data it is suspected that the elderly man committed suicide. The prosecution and judicial police institutions are conducting investigations to determine the clear circumstances of the 86-year-old's death.
" Citizen Njazi Raki Ceka, imprisoned with a life sentence, was admitted to the Prison Hospital on 01.06.2023, for cardiac problems coming from IEVP FDurrës, where he was accommodated in the Special Care Section, due to his condition his health.
The staff of the Hospital Center, at the moment of ascertaining the incident from the service employee, tried to give first aid to the patient, but without result. After ascertaining the fact, the family of the deceased as well as the investigative bodies were notified.
A team of the DPB, by order of the General Director, has appeared in the country, to evaluate the situation and the actions of the staff, from 07.00 on 12.06.2023 ", announces the Directorate of Prisons.
