The Special Court has set the security measure "arrest in prison" for Gëzim Çela, who was extradited from Kosovo on Thursday.
It is learned that the "drug baron" kept his mouth shut during the session and did not declare anything.
Gëzim Cela has begun to pay off the sentence given by the Court of Appeal for Serious Crimes on December 7, 2015. At that time, Çela was sentenced to 10 years and 8 months in prison for drug trafficking. For Çela, SPAK has also opened an investigation into the origin of his raised assets, which are suspected of drug trafficking.
Meanwhile, the defense requested house arrest for Çela with the claim that he did not prove it, but GJKKO did not accept it.
Çela was arrested on December 9 in the village of Dardani in Ferizaj in the company of two girls from Albania. With him was the person who sheltered him for a while in his house in a village in Viti.
During the search by the Kosovo Police in the same house, a Kalashnikov with 15 cartridges was found and seized. The 55-year-old, considered one of the biggest leaders of cocaine and heroin trafficking in Europe, was wanted by SPAK in the "Flame at Sea" operation on October 9, 2023, after several months of investigations where on August 15 he was hit a criminal group that tried to trade narcotics in the middle of the sea.
