Police have cracked down on a prostitution ring in Durrës after a two-week operation, placing 11 people under investigation and declaring two Brazilian nationals wanted.
The activity allegedly took place in a rented space in neighborhood no. 13 as well as in a hotel in the city.
During the operation, two women from Brazil were also identified, a 33-year-old woman caught in a hotel and a 27-year-old woman found in an apartment, suspected of practicing prostitution.
Two other Brazilian nationals are also wanted. One, 30 years old, is suspected of having rented the premises, while the other, 38 years old, is suspected of having previously carried out this activity in the same location.
The investigation also includes the 45-year-old hotel administrator, suspected of concealing income.
During the search, police seized money suspected to be proceeds from this activity, 10 mobile phones and passports. Investigations are ongoing to fully unravel the case.
"After 2 weeks of proactive investigations, the operation codenamed "Storm 16" is finalized. In neighborhood no. 13, Durrës, a rented premises for practicing prostitution is discovered. 2 Brazilian citizens who practiced prostitution in this premises and in a hotel are being prosecuted. The administrator of the hotel where one of the Brazilian citizens was caught is being prosecuted for concealing income.
Two citizens are wanted, one who had rented the premises where prostitution was practiced and the other who is suspected of having practiced this activity previously, in this premises. 8 citizens are also being prosecuted. Suspected sums of money obtained from this activity, 10 mobile phones and passports are being seized. As a result of intensive investigations with proactive methods, carried out over 2 weeks, by the Trafficking Investigation Section, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with the operational services of the Durrës DVP, the codenamed operation "Storm 16" was finalized.
Following the procedural actions, within the framework of the operation, two Brazilian citizens were criminally prosecuted: LC, 33 years old, who was caught in the hotel, and VB, 27 years old, who was caught in the rented premises, as they were suspected of practicing prostitution. Also, 8 other citizens, residents of Vlora, Durrës and Divjakë, were criminally prosecuted. Also within the framework of the operation, Brazilian citizens GS, 30 years old, resident of Brazil, were declared wanted for the criminal offense "Adapting premises for prostitution", and MR, 38 years old, resident of Brazil, for the criminal offense "Prostitution". Also, proceedings were initiated against citizen KP, 45 years old, resident of Durrës, hotel administrator, for the criminal offense "Hiding income". The procedural materials were referred to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further actions", the police announced.
