5 people have been arrested in France, including the Albanian 'king' of drug trafficking, after police investigations revealed the trafficking of heroin and cocaine from Belgium and the Netherlands.
According to the media, the network operated in Savoie and Haute-Savoie.
"This drug trafficking network was run by Albanian citizens ," said prosecutor Line Bonnet in a press release.
During the operation, 3 kilograms of heroin, 1 kg of cocaine and several kilograms of other types of drugs were seized, with a total value of 500 thousand euros.
The authorities also confiscated around 400,000 euros in cash, luxury vehicles and bank accounts, which translates into "a total loss of over 1 million euros" for the traffickers.
The supplier, an Albanian national based in Lyon, received the drugs from Belgium and the Netherlands and distributed them to dealers in Savoie and Haute-Savoie, particularly in Annecy.
The judicial investigation began in January 2023, when the investigation was entrusted to the drug enforcement unit of the Haute-Savoie Interagency Criminal Police. Five arrested persons are in custody and are expected to be informed of the measure of arrest in the future.
