Kreshnik and Gentjana Mujeci were victims of a well-organized assassination attempt on Sunday afternoon in Balldren, Lezha. They were shot with automatic weapons, and the victims lost their lives in the car they were traveling in.
The police managed to solve the murder within 24 hours, but were unable to arrest the suspected perpetrators, seize the weapons of the crime, or the cars used by the suspects in the assassination.
Renato Mhillaj, 23, Adriano Mhillaj, 22, and Florin Mhillaj, 36, are wanted. They are close associates of Genc Mhillaj, who was executed in 2016, and who was initially suspected of involvement in the murder of Kreshnik Mujeci. The latter, along with two other people, were arrested at the time for the murder of Genc Mhillaj, but Kreshnik Mujeci was later acquitted.
And despite the Court's decision, it seems that the Mhillaj family has not forgotten the execution of Genc Mhillaj. Ten years after his murder, Renato Mhillaj, Genc Mhillaj's son, along with his two cousins, Adriano and Florin Mhillaj, have taken revenge by killing the suspect in the 2016 murder.
How did the murder of Genc Mhillaj happen on October 6, 2016?
The serious incident occurred at around 11:00 on October 6, 2016, near the village of Mali i Jushit. Genc Mhillaj (Pjetri), 42, from Torovica, was shot and killed.
The victim, Genc Mhillaj, 42 years old, was driving a pickup truck with license plate AA 609 IV, which was loaded with flour and corn. The victim was walking on the road when Mujeci stopped him and called him to talk. At that time, Jozef and Kreshnik Mujeci were charged with the murder.
Near the Mali i Jushi bridge, they had a conflict with each other and during the altercation, Mhillaj tried to run away, but the perpetrator chased him and fired a pistol at him. As a result, the victim fell to the ground.
42-year-old Genc Mhillaj died instantly after being shot in the forehead. The perpetrator fled quickly in the direction of Torovica.
The Court of First Instance in Shkodra has declared Jozef and Kreshnik Mujeci innocent of the murder of Genc Mhillaj, a decision given on November 27, 2018. Subsequently, the Shkodra Court of Appeal on November 6, 2019 decided not to accept the prosecution's appeal against the decision of the First Instance. Meanwhile, the High Court has returned it for trial on October 31, 2024.
