A 46-year-old Albanian man, identified as Arben Cristea, has died in Italy after being seriously injured while fleeing while allegedly entering a villa to rob it with two other people. The incident took place in the Gorello area, in the province of Arezzo.
According to Italian media and investigative sources, the Albanian was accidentally injured while trying to leave the scene, severing his femoral artery after his leg became stuck in a spiked iron pole, part of a fence placed to prevent wild boars from descending from the surrounding hills.
Event dynamics
It all reportedly started on the evening of February 13, when an attempted burglary was reported in the area at a villa complex along regional road 71, towards Valdichiana. According to authorities, the thieves moved from one apartment to another, which was empty after the owners had gone out for dinner.

At 20:39, the alarm system was activated. Relatives of the family, who lived nearby, intervened to verify the situation. A young man, according to reports, confronted the perpetrators, who threw away the suspected stolen items, jewelry and silverware, and quickly fled.
One of the family members, who was carrying a licensed gun, fired two shots into the air to scare them off. According to investigators, there is no indication that the victim was injured by the gunfire.
Fatal injury and discovery of the body
During his escape, the 46-year-old is suspected of jumping from a terrace and then crashing into a metal fence near a stream. The spiked pole caused a deep gash in his leg, severing his femoral artery.
According to preliminary data, he crawled for about 50 meters, before collapsing in a vegetable garden. The body was found after 02:00 on the morning of February 14, after reports of groans in the dark.
The autopsy is expected to confirm that the cause of death was hemorrhagic shock as a result of massive bleeding.
Investigations and response of the authorities
The Carabinieri identified the victim through the documents he was carrying. He had previous criminal records, mainly in the field of theft.
The incident has been classified as accidental and, according to authorities, no irregularities were found in the actions of the family members who responded to the alarm.
The investigation is being led by Deputy Prosecutor Angela Masiello, while Prosecutor Ginfederica Dito was also at the scene. Meanwhile, the search for the two suspected accomplices continues.
