The Special Court has confiscated 10 assets in the name of Veip Ormënaj, who was convicted in Belgium for cocaine trafficking. It is known that his assets turned out to be unjustifiable and that they came from criminal activity.
8 apartments and two bank accounts were confiscated from Veip Ormënaj.
"Following the press release dated 24.07.2023, based on law No. 10192 dated 03.12.2009, amended, "On Preventing and Fighting Organized Crime, Trafficking and Corruption through Preventive Measures against Wealth", Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, has registered property proceedings no. 6, of 2023, in charge of citizen Veip Ormënaj and his family members.
This property proceeding was registered on the basis of the acts administered within the property reference no. 2769, dated 22.02.2023, forwarded by the Belgian Justice Authorities, from which it results that the citizen Veip Ormënaj has been convicted by the Belgian judicial authorities with the criminal decision. No. 2012/CO/277, for the criminal offenses of "Trafficking in narcotic substances" and "Participation in a criminal organization", provided by the criminal legislation of the Kingdom of Belgium.
After carrying out property investigations, it was found that the citizen Veip Ormënaj owned movable and immovable assets, which are not justified by legal sources of income and which are suspected to be the product of his criminal activity.
Subsequently, the Special Prosecutor's Office submitted to the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, the request for the confiscation of the movable and immovable assets of the citizen Veip Ormënaj and his family members.
At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with decision no. 25, dated 20.06.2024, decided the confiscation of assets, as follows:
Apartment-type property with an area of 220.80m2;
Apartment-type property with an area of 216.50m2;
Apartment-type property with an area of 47.50m2;
Apartment-type property with an area of 44.30m2;
Apartment-type property with an area of 48 m2;
Apartment-type property with an area of 58.70 m2;
Apartment-type property with an area of 46.30m2;
Apartment-type property with an area of 93.m2;
Bank deposit in the amount of 190,013.78 Euros;
Bank deposit in the amount of 68.987.00 Euro.
The confiscated real estates are located in Orikum, Vlora", SPAK announces.
