Kastriot Cenko has confessed to the Greek court details of the domestic crime that occurred two years ago in Ampelokipi, where he killed his wife, Alba Cenko, the mother of two minor children.
The serious incident occurred on November 29, 2024, when the 42-year-old man hit his wife with a hammer inside their apartment while their two children were sleeping. After the crime, he hid the body first in a closet and then in the attic of the apartment.
In his testimony before the court, Cenko said that their relationship had been troubled for a long time and that the fatal conflict began after his wife told him she was leaving, taking the children with her.
"She told me earlier that she was leaving and taking the children with her. She told me that the little one was not my child. At that moment I was confused. My whole life was my children... I did CPR, but without success," Cenko said.
Asked by the judge if he had considered divorce, he replied: "No. I never wanted my children to experience separation. I had told them: 'You can do whatever you want. My love for you will not change. I had accepted it…'".
The 42-year-old also described the moments after the murder and how he hid the woman's body.
"I took a bag and put it on my head so it wouldn't leave a mark, so the children wouldn't be scared by the blood. I took the quilt and a sheet and wrapped it up... I put it in the closet and went to prepare breakfast for the children. I put it in the closet. I got up in the morning, took the children to school. I wasn't feeling well... I was trying to find the courage to explain to the children, to see what I was going to do...", Cenko testified.
He also explained why he moved the body to the attic. "I wasn't normal. I put it in the attic. I don't remember... if I wanted to disappear, I could. But I never thought of hiding it... But where would I leave the body? In the closet so the kids could open it and scare them? It was a small apartment..."
In court, Cenko also claimed that his wife was having an extramarital affair with a childhood friend of his, but insisted that he continued to love her and did not want a separation.
According to Greek media, he notified the police about a week after the crime. The 32-year-old's mother testified that during this time, family members had received messages from Alba's phone, sent by the perpetrator himself, to convince them that she was still alive.
