The plenary session of the Assembly has been accompanied by tensions, debates and repeated interruptions, while the opposition has continued to block the rostrum in protest.

Although the agenda includes 21 items, the deputies have not managed to advance beyond the third item. The reason was the opposition's request to change the agenda in order to discuss the protest that has been taking place in Tirana for 18 days, while the agenda included a speech by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, regarding the eighth Albania-EU intergovernmental conference and the integration process.

After tensions returned to the hall, the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, was forced to interrupt the proceedings for the fourth time and call a 15-minute break, inviting the heads of the parliamentary groups to find a solution.

After returning from recess, the situation remained unchanged. The Democratic Party MPs continued to stand near the podium and demand a change to the agenda.

"Direct a complaint to the Rules Council and not to the session. While we are doing all this discussion, it would have been your turn two hours ago. Please sit down. Where is the interruption of speech and proceedings foreseen in the rules, I cannot find, where do you base this absurd request, find me on which point of the rules it is stated. Will you let us continue or not, because it is a unifying point, an interest of everyone, beyond the political agenda. Respect the rules, allow us to continue the session", said Peleshi.

On the other hand, the leader of the Democratic parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, accused the chair of the session of not implementing the rules.

"Respect the rules, let us talk, follow the procedure," Bardhi said.

Peleshi responded to the opposition MPs by demanding the rostrum be vacated and the proceedings continue according to the rules.

"Please, don't get into metabolic needs, this matter is not to be resolved with folklore, not everything is resolved with folklore. It is not in your hands, it is not to be dealt with by force, not by imposition, it is not to be dealt with by imposing speech, follow the rules. You have blocked the session, vacate the podium, take the floor after the minister speaks," he declared.

Further, the speaker of parliament suggested that the blocking of the session was organized.

"Surprisingly, Mr. Bozdo blocked it, which is not his nature. Mr. Bozdo, you don't believe it either, you don't believe that there is a scenario to block it. Don't personalize the session. Even in a protest, there is an order, there is a scenario, the floor is not taken out of turn. Mr. Bardhi, you don't understand that you can't complicate me with this, it's been 8 months, you can't complicate me, please. Free up the podium," he said.

Opposition MPs continued to accuse Pelesh of obstructing the normal conduct of the session.

"You're the one disrupting the session, follow the rules," they told him.

Faced with the created impasse, Peleshi decided to suspend work again.

"So... then 15 minutes break. I invite the leaders of the parliamentary groups to calm down and resolve the situation, 15 minutes break, group leaders please for a short meeting," he said, temporarily suspending the session.
