49-year-old Margjoni was declared an international wanted person, while SPAK considers him to be one of the people involved in the cocaine laboratory discovered in Frakull, Fier.

Kevin Margjoni, who was internationally wanted, has been arrested in Spain after the Criminal Court of Kosovo imposed the security measure "prison arrest" on him for drug trafficking.

49-year-old Margjoni was declared an international wanted person, while SPAK considers him to be one of the people involved in the cocaine laboratory discovered in Frakull, Fier.

The cocaine laboratory in Frakull is considered one of the most important strikes by SPAK in March of this year in the fight against cocaine trafficking from Latin America to Europe and Albania. Margjoni was one of two people wanted, while three other people had previously been arrested.

Cooperation with Spanish authorities and Interpol is now expected for Margjoni's extradition to Albania.

"As a result of the cooperation of Interpol Tirana with its counterparts in Madrid, citizen Kevin Margjoni, 49 years old, who was declared internationally wanted, after the Criminal Court of Albania assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Trafficking in narcotics", committed in collaboration, in the form of a structured criminal group, "Committing criminal offenses by a criminal organization or a structured criminal group" and "Structured criminal group", was captured in Spain and arrested with the aim of extradition to Albania", the police announced.

How was the cocaine lab discovered?

A large quantity of cocaine that had arrived from Latin American countries was seized in November 2022 at the Port of Tivat in Montenegro, which subsequently revealed a cocaine laboratory in the village of Frakull i Madh in Fier.

The apartment where the cocaine laboratory was discovered is owned by the former mayor of Farkulli, Viktor Cervanaku. Another person was in charge of the cocaine that was processed in Cervanaku's apartment, as Viktor Cervanaku himself lived in Tirana.

The cocaine, which was hidden in 400 kg bags of chemical fertilizer, was kept under surveillance to discover its destination.

The operation, which was carried out by the American DEA, in cooperation with SPAK and the Montenegrin police, was kept under wraps, and bags of chemical fertilizer were observed, where cocaine was also hidden, which were taken from the Port of Tivat and sent to the village of Frakull i Madh in Fier.

A total of 15 people were arrested, and 4 of them were caught in Tirana with pistols and Kalashnikovs. They were arrested after they were caught in wiretaps and were being kept under surveillance. Weapons were also seized, 2 Kalashnikovs, 1 shotgun and 1 pair.

In this operation, former mayor Viktor Cervanaku, Nikolin Gjolena, Denilson Cervanaku, Klajdi Vrioni (alias Klajdi Kodra), Zenel Cervanaku, Redion Meshi, Enxhi Ferhati, Marildo Rona, Bledar Matoshi and Julian Malaj were arrested. They have been sentenced to a total of 89 years in prison, while the trial of Colombian citizen Samir Rosales Rodriguez, who was arrested in Ecuador and is awaiting extradition, continues.
