A serious event shook Lezha this afternoon, where two people, a man and a woman, were victims of an assassination attempt on their way to their apartment.
Unidentified persons fired a volley of shots at a moving Audi this afternoon. Kreshnik Mujeci and his wife Gentjana Mujeci lost their lives as a result of the shooting.
At the time of the assassination, the couple were traveling from Lezha to their home, where they were ambushed and shot with a barrage of bullets.
Initial suspicions are that the perpetrators may have fled towards the village of Torovicës. Meanwhile, evidence from the scene shows that the perpetrators were organized and used two vehicles, one of which fired at the victims and the other served to remove them from the scene.

Today's event appears to be related to the past of the victim Kreshnik Mujeci, who turns out to have been involved in a serious criminal incident that occurred on October 6, 2016 in the village of Mali i Jushit, in Shkodra.
It concerns the murder of Genc Mhillaj, a case for which authorities arrested two brothers, Lin and Kreshnik Mujeci, (victim of today's assassination), as suspects in the 2016 murder. In 2017, Lin and Kreshnik Mujeci were arrested by the police.

The serious incident occurred around 11:00 on Thursday near the village of Mali i Jushit. Genc Mhillaj (Pjetri), 42, from Torovica, was shot and killed. At the time, Mhillaj was driving a pickup truck loaded with flour and corn, when Mujeci stopped him and called him over to talk.
Near the Mali i Jushi bridge, they had a conflict with each other and in the midst of the argument, Mhillaj tried to run away, but the perpetrator followed him and shot him with a pistol. 42-year-old Genc Mhillaj died immediately after the bullet hit him in the forehead. On the other hand, the perpetrator had quickly fled in the direction of Torovica.
How was Kreshni Mujeci released from prison?
On November 27, 2018, the First Instance Court of Shkodra acquitted Lin and Kreshnik Mujeci of the murder of Genc Mhillaj, claiming lack of evidence.
On November 6, 2019, the Shkodra Court of Appeal decided not to accept the prosecution's appeal against the First Instance decision, while the Supreme Court returned the case for retrial on October 31, 2024.
