Metaj was arrested during the "Flame at sea" operation.
He is suspected, according to SPAK, of helping the drug baron Gëzim Çela in the criminal activity of drug trafficking and not being caught by the police as a wanted person.
Gëzim Çela was arrested a few weeks ago in Kosovo and his extradition to Albania is expected.
Metaj appears in the SPAK file with an important role in drug trafficking.
It is said that dozens of cell phone communications have been discovered for Meta and Çela, some of which were seized after the sailing ship was caught on fire at sea. Among them were found numerous conversations between Metaj and Gëzim Çelaj and the other 2 wanted.
The State Police landed on the evening of October 9, 2023 in Fushë Kuqe for the execution of 4 SPAK arrest warrants and in addition to the arrest of the head of the Kurbin police station and the wanted announcement for Gëzim Çelaj, Arben Dalipaj, from Vlora and Roland Guza were also announced wanted. from Durrës, who allegedly left the country earlier. The operation is a continuation of that "Flame at Sea" on August 15, 2023.
