Neighboring media revealed new details about the seizure of cocaine yesterday by the Greek police in the Port of Piraeus in cooperation with the American DEA.

A quantity of 310 kg of cocaine was seized by two police actions inside containers of frozen shrimps.

The shipment had started from the port of Guayaquil in Ecuador and the final destination was Albania.

Four people, 2 Albanians and 2 Greeks, were arrested during the police action.

Trojan horse by the Greek police

According to the Greek daily "Kathimerini", the police applied the scheme known as the "Trojan Horse", used by the ancient Greeks during the Trojan War.

The Greek police, through an undercover agent, had managed to infiltrate the ranks of drug dealers.

The undercover agent convinced them that he had the ability to get the cocaine out of the container at the Port of Piraeus and take it to a safe place where other members of the organization could then retrieve it.

And exactly this scheme was applied. The infiltrated person managed to get the cocaine out of the container.

On the morning of May 22, he took the 4 arrested to a bar in Pira with the claim that he had hidden the drug there and they could take it.

But upon arriving at the bar, the members of the drug network saw not only packages of cocaine, but also a large number of police agents. They were arrested, while a cash amount of 131,675 Euros was seized.

The cocaine was divided into 180, while a few hours later the Greek police announced that they had found another 100 kg in another container in addition to the amount of 210 kg.

As for the arrested Albanian citizens, they have been identified as Andrea Merkuri, 48 years old, a businessman in Albania, and Marsel Stafaj, 36 years old.

The 48-year-old, who is also considered one of the main heads of the criminal group that carried out transnational drug trafficking, is not an unknown name for the Greek police. He was wanted after being sentenced to 20 years in prison for participating in a group involved in the production and sale of narcotics.
