Seizure of cocaine / Double blow to the Albanian businessman in Greece with 3

Over 300 kilograms of cocaine were seized in Greece in two consecutive operations at the port of Piraeus, giving a strong blow to the drug cartels operating in the neighboring country.

Protothema wrote that after the first load of 210 kg found in a container that had left Panama and was destined for Albania, there was a network of many drug members led by a 48-year-old Albanian with serious criminal records.

He is Azdren Muharremi, 48 years old from Patos. It turns out that he used three Albanian passports, one with the name Azdren Qazim Muharremi issued on 19.10.2022 and expiring on 18.10.2032, one with the name Jasona Panajot Merkuri issued on 17.09.2013 and one with the name Andrea Panajot Merkuri with number Z2 ....79.

In Greece, Muharrem was known as Andrea, the name under which he was previously arrested for drugs in Turkey under the identity Andrea Merkuri, 54 years old, born in Gjirokastër while he was wanted in Greece since 2017 and then sentenced to 20 years in prison and a 100,000 euro fine for drugs under the identity of Jason Merkuri, 54 years old, born in Gjirokastër.

Merkuri is a businessman who owns a luxury clothing store in Albania and a tourist bus in Greece.

In addition to Albanian identities, Muharrem also had Greek documents under the names Andrea or Jasona Merkuri.

During the inspection of the apartment, Muharrem found 1 pistol with 15 bullets and 129 thousand and 375 euros as well as 30 pounds.

The second arrested person is Marsel Stafaj, 36 years old from Tirana, known in Greece as "Majk", a resident of Kalithea, Athens. It turns out that Staffaj was living illegally in Greece. 1800 euros were seized from him.

The drugs were found hidden inside a container of frozen shrimp. The narcotics were sent from Panama, while according to Greek media, the destination was Albania.

From there it would be distributed to the countries of Central and Northern Europe. These are the images of the drugs seized in the Port of Piraeus. The packages were stamped with distinctive signs for drug withdrawal, while the alert for the shipment was given by the US DEA.

The Greek police arrested 4 people, 2 Albanians and 2 Greeks. From the Greek media it is learned that the Albanians are a 48-year-old man named Jasona Merkuri, who is also known by two other names, while the other handcuffed person is Marcel Stafaj, 36 years old.

There was an arrest warrant against him for involvement in another drug trafficking case. It turns out that in 2017 he was sentenced to 20 years in prison as the financier and leader of a group that produced Kaptagon pills in a laboratory located in a neighborhood of Athens.

A few hours later, a second container with 100 kg of cocaine was located in the Port of Piraeus. Authorities are investigating the possibility of a connection with the 210 kg found in a container of frozen shrimp this morning. According to the information, the case of the second container presents similar characteristics to the case of 210 kg of cocaine, but it will be the investigations that will verify if the two cases are related.
