Three people have been arrested by police in Durrës, accused of turning a bar into a sports betting site.
The police announce that they have initiated criminal proceedings against a person at large, on charges of involvement in these activities.
The police seized 4 cell phones that were used for this activity.
"The Durrës Police have successfully finalized another operation against illegal gambling, arresting three citizens and prosecuting another, caught red-handed placing sports bets via mobile phones in a bar in neighborhood no. 13 of the city.
The operation was conducted following information obtained through operational channels that illegal gambling activity was taking place in the premises of the bar. As a result, the services of the Plazh Police Station, in cooperation with the Durrës Police Commissariat, intervened and found the activity in flagrante delicto.
At the end of the investigative actions, the following were arrested:
-EM, 41 years old;
-ED, 37 years old;
-DD, 42 years old, ED's brother;
Meanwhile, a 39-year-old citizen of EP, involved in the same illegal activity, was released on bail. During the search of the premises, police seized 4 mobile phones, which were used to place bets on active online accounts.
"All the people involved are residents of Durrës and are being investigated for illegal activities in the field of gambling. The procedural materials have been referred to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further legal action," the police announced.
