Two Chinese arrested in Tirana for defrauding citizens through fake Albanian

Two Chinese citizens have been arrested by Tirana police, accused of defrauding Albanian citizens through fake Albanian Post websites.

It is learned that these 2 people entered the territory of the Republic of Albania on October 27, 2025 and created a website identical to that of the Albanian Post Office, to deceive citizens and collect personal and banking data.

During the search of the premises where they were staying, 17 phones, 1 laptop, 12 passports, 11 bank cards, 7 identity cards, 1 driver's license and sums of money in various currencies were found and seized as material evidence.

They are accused of the criminal offenses of "Computer Fraud", "Interference with Computer Data" and "Computer Forgery".

"The State Police has successfully finalized the police operation codenamed "Fake Mail", which focused on cracking down on a foreign group that was deceiving Albanian citizens through fake Albanian Post websites.

As a result of in-depth investigations by the Cybercrime Investigation Directorate, in cooperation with the Operational Directorate of the State Police and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Tirana Judicial District Court, two Chinese citizens were arrested: CF, 51 years old, and HY, 45 years old.

Investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals had entered the territory of the Republic of Albania on October 27, 2025, creating a website identical to that of the Albanian Post, through which they deceived citizens and obtained personal and banking data.

During the search of the premises where they were staying, the police seized as material evidence:

17 mobile phones,
1 laptop,
12 passports,
11 bank cards,
7 identity cards,
1 driver's license,
as well as amounts of money in various currencies.

Investigations continue to fully uncover the criminal activity and to identify possible other accomplices. The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Tirana Judicial District Court for the criminal offenses of "Computer Fraud", "Interference with Computer Data" and "Computer Forgery", the police announced.
