A 19-year-old man has been arrested by police in the village of Bulgarec, Korça, after allegedly stabbing a 16-year-old.
The incident occurred on the street, following a collision between two young men. The injured man received medical attention at the Korça hospital and is out of danger.
The conflict between them had started the day before during a card game. According to the records, the dispute was related to a drink that one of them refused to pay for after losing the game. The clash continued the following day and initially turned into punches, then degenerated into the use of a knife, leaving the 16-year-old injured in the chest.
The minor's family stated that there had been no previous problems between the two families.
"Specialists from the Section for the Investigation of Crimes against the Person, of the Korça Police Department, arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen AM, 19 years old, resident of the village of Bulgarec, Korça, after yesterday evening, in the village of Bulgarec, on the street, he is suspected of stabbing a 16-year-old resident of the village of Bulgarec, for weak motives. The injured person is receiving treatment at the Korça hospital and is out of danger for his life. As material evidence, the cutting tool (knife) and the cell phone of the arrested person were seized," the police announced.
The injured man's grandmother, Meliana Bricka, emphasizes that the two families had good relations and that there were no previous conflicts between them.
"He stabbed him in the chest with a knife. I didn't win the card game, you won. They were fighting and he stabbed him. We are close to the other family, we had a regular routine and the child didn't have anything to do with it. The fight was about the game, as the boy told us. When I see the boy, I remember that. He's in high school. We haven't had any conflict with anyone in the village about how that boy did this to us, how he injured our son," says the grandmother of the injured man.
On the other hand, the author's family said that the conflict was instantaneous and without previous precedents. His grandfather, Shaban Mersinaj, states that the young people had a conflict inside the bar and that everything happened after a physical clash between them. He adds that his grandson is not a problematic person and that the families had close relationships.
"They were playing there, he (the injured man) hit his nephew with a stick, the nephew fell to the ground. According to what they told us, the nephew got up and the injured man shot him again, causing blood, then the nephew acted. The incident happened inside the bar. We are our own, we are cousins, they fought for nothing. My nephew is not a quarrelsome person, he is a calm, hardworking boy. We have spoken to his father, he does not admit, we met at the hospital, he does not accept.
We have no conflict with them. The injured person is in good condition, there is a scratch under his armpit. The police came and took the nephew, after the incident he came home, told us that he hit me. These are things of the moment, not previous conflicts, they are about a friend, why did you say this, why did you say that. We have had ins and outs in the family", he says.
