Investigations into the murder of 30-year-old Endri Goxhaj, which occurred on the evening of April 21 in Memaliaj, continue, while the arrested persons have not given testimony to the police.
Three people are in custody: Ermal Mataj, Aldo Kalemi and Dali Nela, the latter injured during the gunfight. According to investigative data, none of them has refused to give explanations for the incident. The two brothers Donaldo and Marjaldo Nela are also wanted, while another person is being investigated at large. In total, investigators identify seven people involved.
The incident is suspected to have started after an immediate clash between the two groups, which then escalated to the use of weapons. One of the leads being verified is related to previous conflicts over drug trafficking.
According to the preliminary reconstruction, Endri Goxhaj was the first to fire a gun at Dali Nela, seriously wounding him. Later, the latter's two brothers returned fire, wounding the 30-year-old, who died during transport to the hospital. After the shooting, the perpetrators fled the scene in a vehicle.
Investigators have identified that one of the wanted persons has a criminal record and has previously been involved in drug trafficking activities. Meanwhile, family ties between the suspects and previous conflicts between the groups are being analyzed as part of the file.
Investigations continue to fully clarify the circumstances and identify all those responsible.
