The body of 21-year-old Albanian, Mateo Llupi, who was killed on April 14 in the city of Helsingborg, Sweden, has arrived in Albania. The young man, originally from Fier and a resident of Sweden for years, will be taken to his final home on Friday, while the family has opened the doors of the morgue.
The serious incident occurred shortly before midnight, when the young man was shot in a parking lot near a building. A 25-year-old woman who was with him was also injured during the attack. She underwent surgery and is in serious but stable condition, under police protection.
Swedish police have arrested a man in connection with the incident, but authorities have said he is not suspected of being the direct perpetrator of the murder. "We do not suspect that he is the perpetrator of the murder," said prosecutor Anders Svensson, adding that the investigation is still ongoing and at an intensive stage.
According to Swedish media, evidence related to a vehicle was found at the scene, while witnesses reported that a gray van drove away immediately after the shooting, raising suspicions of multiple people being involved.
Media sources report that the victim was known to the police and is suspected of having connections to criminal networks in the Helsingborg area. Investigations are also focusing on the possibility of clashes between drug gangs.
Meanwhile, Swedish authorities continue to work to fully clarify the circumstances and identify the perpetrators of the incident.
