Azgan Mërnica, the person who executed in May 2024 with a single bullet the employee of the State Police, Novruz Cenalia, has broken his silence.
The young man who surrendered himself to the police, after 48 hours of being searched in the villages of Fier, has repented for committing the murder of the policeman, showing remorse.
"...I feel remorseful and apologize to the victim's family..." - Azgan Mërnica declared before the investigators of the case.
The journalist of "Ora News", Elton Qyno, was able to provide the complete testimony of Mërnica and other acts of the criminal file with No. 689, where all the evidence gathered by the criminal police, such as witnesses, video footage of a business, and the testimony of his mother, reveal 23-year-old Azgan Mërnica as the author of Novruz Cenalia's murder.
From the premises of the Fier prison, the young Mërnica told the police investigators that everything happened in the heat of the moment because in a sharp turn in the village of Baltëz, he almost collided with the vehicle driven by policeman Cenalia, who at that moment was wearing the red uniform of the "Eagle" team.
The young man is being investigated for the charge of "Murder of state police officers" and "Possessing firearms without a permit", two charges that automatically lead to a life sentence.
As he was interrogated for the account of the investigation with No. 689, Azgan Mërnica remembers the moment when he committed the serious crime of killing the police officer on May 13, 2024 in the village of Baltëz in Fier.
"...when you turn directly from the direction you are coming to enter the Baltza street, as soon as I take the turn with the car and enter the Baltza street, a car that looked like a "Benz" was coming towards me and I believe it was colored black. I immediately cut the steering wheel to take the turn, as the car driver gestured to me and it seemed that he cursed me, but I didn't hear any swearing. I only saw from his gestures and the person driving the "Benz" stopped the car and then I also stopped the car a little before the store. We both opened the car doors and I got out of the vehicle. We exchanged words with the driver of the "Benz" with the doors open I said: "...why did you curse me..." and he continued to curse me again. Then I turned to him and he turned to me, I said: "...don't curse me with people..." and at these moments we exchange insults with each other. For a moment the person who got off the "Benz" put his hand on the gun and at this time I also took out the gun I had with me and loaded it, I approach the person and say: "...why did you insult me..."? The person in question made gestures with a pistol and it seemed to me that he loaded it, and I had taken the pistol out of the bag, loaded it and shot him first, and the person immediately fell to the ground...".
Azgan Mërniza continued his testimony, showing that during the exchange of insults with each other, I remember my mother talking to me saying "don't...don't...".
"...but after I shot the person with a gun and he fell to the ground, I immediately went to the car, took my mother in the car and fled towards the village of Sulaj. I dropped my mom off at my house and then I drove the car to the yard of my uncle's house in Sulaj and then I ran straight to the Seman forest, where I stayed hidden for three days in a row until dinner. , where I went to my grandfather Čerki's house, which is located about 100 meters from my house, there I found my mother, uncle Gentjan Selaci, grandfather Čerki, who told me we would deliver and the car that brought me arrived not even five minutes later in the police..." Azgan Mërnica has shown the dynamics of the movements.
Regarding the firearm, the interrogator Mërnica also stated the reasons why he carried the firearm with him:
"...when I left the house I had the pistol with me since the morning, since my brother was convicted of murder and I felt threatened, that was the reason I carried the gun...".
According to him, he had found the firearm three or four days ago and was carrying it in his backpack.
"...I threw the pistol together with the bag while I was walking through the canals, in a wooded area with brambles and bushes..."
Meanwhile, in relation to the victim Novruz Cenaliaj and if he knew him, Mërnica described the victim and asserting that he found that he was dressed as a policeman.
