The Spanish police have destroyed a criminal organization composed of Albanian and Spanish citizens, which committed more than 100 robberies in different Spanish provinces.
During the operation, 15 people were arrested and 10,000 euros in cash, three weapons, six cars and 14 mobile phones were seized.
The investigation began at the end of last January when an increase in burglaries was discovered in family homes in the provinces of León and Asturias. After these events, data was obtained that suggested the existence of a criminal network composed mainly of citizens of Albanian origin and that had the cooperation of Spanish individuals for logistical tasks such as renting vehicles or finding an apartment.
The criminal organization, based in Catalonia, but with great mobility throughout Spain, consisted of five cells of Albanian individuals highly specialized in burglaries inside houses. These worked in groups of three or four people with a very specific distribution of tasks (a driver who performed surveillance functions and another group to "attack" houses).
They did not stay more than five minutes in the house
They operated between 8 pm and 12 midnight, attacking families' homes. The method of entering the house was always the same, they jumped over fences or walls and entered and left in a short time, not staying more than 5 minutes in the house. The criminal group used almost 30 different vehicles to carry out all the robberies and trips.
The criminal organization had members at an international level
This superior organization of international importance had members in France, Italy, Albania and Germany, where one of the arrested was identified as the author of a robbery in 2016.
After appearing before justice, one of the arrested was left in prison, leaving the police investigations open.
