The incident that occurred 3 days ago in France, where a 40-year-old Albanian man was executed with 3 bullets while in his work van, continues to remain a mystery.
The victim has been identified as Elis Alijaj, who was shot dead in front of his home on Rue du Lézard Vert, in the Ma Campagne district of Angoulême (Charente).
The crime occurred at 07:00 on February 24, while the victim was a plumber.
The police were notified of the crime by neighbors, who also saw a dark-colored van leaving.
The scene of Alija's execution was witnessed by his roommate, who was shocked and started screaming. "She was in shock, making her way from the van to the apartment and then returning screaming," French media reported, citing testimonies from residents of the area.
The victim has no criminal record, while he was shot with 3 bullets, one in the leg and two in the chest.
Originally from Albania, Elis' parents settled in Angoulême a long time ago. His father had a good reputation in the area and was appreciated for his kindness. He was "the nicest person in the world, kind, helpful," said a neighbor. "Charming, trouble-free, well-integrated people who lived in peace with their children," adds a close family friend.
"It's a total shock," says another neighbor.
Shortly after the incident, authorities found a burnt-out Renault Scenic van in the forest of La Braconne, in Jauldes (Charente). Inside it was discovered a firearm, suspected of being used in the crime.
