A 65-year-old man has been arrested by Berat police after setting fire to his land in the village of Rabijak.
According to the police, the suspected perpetrator started a fire on his land the day before, but as a result of the spread of the flames, homes and land planted with fruit trees were endangered.
"The Berat Police Commissariat services arrested citizen VR, 65 years old, resident of the village of Rabijak, Berat, after it is suspected that he set fire to his land yesterday. The fire got out of control and endangered homes and land planted with fruit trees.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance, General Jurisdiction of Berat, for further action," the police announced.
