A serious incident has been recorded in Italy, where a 34-year-old Albanian man lost his life in hospital just a few hours after Italian police rescued him from drowning in a hotel pool.
The young Albanian was seen struggling for survival in the pool water and after being pulled out, he was taken to hospital for treatment, where he appeared to be out of danger. However, during the night his health deteriorated and he died on August 11.
The incident took place at the Ermitage Hotel in Jesolo, Venice. Witnesses said they saw the young man in distress in the pool and then a nearby carabinieri patrol intervened and gave him first aid after pulling him out of the water.
After the intervention and CPR that was given to him, he seemed to have passed the danger of breathing, as he was asphyxiated. At the San Donà hospital it became clear that no one knew him or had seen him before, and that he was not listed as a guest at the hotel or a member of staff. Therefore, investigations began to determine how and why he had entered the facility: whether he had been threatened or followed, or had sneaked in for other purposes.
Preliminary suspicions are that the young man may have been either drunk or drugged at that moment. But health problems or pathologies are not ruled out and the forensic examination will determine the cause of death of the Albanian, whose name was not disclosed, informs Italian media. His condition in the hospital deteriorated to the point that he lost his life and the medical team could only confirm his death. The prosecutor's office in Venice was informed of the incident and investigations are in progress and ongoing.
