A 53-year-old man declared internationally wanted by the Novara Court in Italy, has fallen into the hands of the Lushnja Police. Bajram Mehaj was sentenced to 5 years and 10 months of imprisonment for violent sexual relations.
Meanwhile, the extradition of the 53-year-old to the Italian state is expected.
" After the exchange of information between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome, regarding the location of a citizen declared internationally wanted, on behalf of Italy, the services of the specialized unit FAST Albania, in cooperation with the services of the Lushnjë Police Station, made it possible to capture in the village of Tërbuf, Lushnjë, as well as the provisional arrest, for the purpose of extradition, of citizen Barjam Mehaj, 53 years old.
The 53-year-old man was declared an international wanted man after the Court of Novara, Italy, sentenced him to 5 years and 10 months in prison, for the criminal offense of "Sexual intercourse with violence", provided by the Italian Criminal Code.
Interpol Tirana continues to cooperate with the Italian partners, for the extradition of the BM citizen to Italy ," the police announced.
