
A 41-year-old Albanian man has been extradited from Belgium to Albania after being declared an international wanted man.
Edson Jozwik alias Edson Pjetri, 41 years old, who was wanted by the Criminal Investigation Department for several serious charges: Drug Trafficking, Money Laundering and Structured Criminal Group, has been arrested.
According to SPAK investigations, Pjetri is suspected of being part of a network that trafficked around 160 kg of cannabis from Albania to Montenegro, with the final destination being European Union countries, during the period June-November 2020.
By decision of the Special Court dated May 15, 2024, he was assigned the security measure "Arrest in prison". After extradition, the 41-year-old will face Albanian justice.
"Cooperation with counterparts continues to finalize the extraditions of citizens declared internationally wanted, captured abroad. A citizen accused by the Criminal Court of Albania as a member of a criminal group trafficking narcotics is being extradited from Belgium.
Following the close cooperation of Interpol Tirana specialists with Interpol Brussels counterparts, within the framework of the "The Wanted" operation, the extradition from Belgium to Albania of citizen EJ alias EP, 41 years old, was finalized.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted, after the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with the decision dated 15.05.2024, assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Trafficking in narcotics", "Laundering of the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity", "Criminal group" and "Commitment of criminal offenses by a structured criminal group".
"From the investigations conducted by SPAK, it is suspected that this citizen, in collaboration with other citizens, during the period June-November 2020, trafficked about 160 kg of the narcotic substance cannabis sativa, from Albania to Montenegro, with the final destination being the countries of the European Union. The extradited citizen was handed over to the General Directorate of Prisons," the police announced.
