A 33-year-old Albanian man has been arrested by police in the city of Cartagena, Colombia, after being declared an international wanted man. The 33-year-old from Tropoja is accused by the Criminal Court of Kosovo of being a member of a criminal organization involved in arms trafficking.

The main role of 33-year-old Almir Gjidjaj was to manage the logistics and transportation for the sale of medium and long-range firearms on the black market.

It is reported that work is being done with Colombian authorities to extradite him to Albania.

"Another joint operation with partners is being finalized, to capture internationally wanted citizens."

The operation, codenamed "Cartagena", is the result of the exchange of information between the structures of the State Police and those of Colombia, regarding the location of a person wanted by Albanian justice.

The Colombian Police, in the city of Cartagena, arrested a 33-year-old man from Tropoja, who was declared internationally wanted and accused by the Criminal Court of Kosovo of being a member of a criminal organization for arms trafficking.

In continuation of the cooperation with counterparts, for the localization and capture of citizens declared internationally wanted, based on the information exchanged between the structures of the State Police and those of Colombia, through Interpol Tirana, within the framework of the police operation "Cartagena", the Colombian Police has localized, captured and detained in the city of Cartagena, citizen A. Gj., 33 years old, born in Tropoja.

This citizen was declared internationally wanted, after the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime accused him of being a member of a criminal organization for arms trafficking. His main role was to manage the logistics and transportation for the sale of medium and long-range firearms on the black market.

"Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Colombian authorities, will carry out the procedures for the extradition of citizen A. Gj., to Albania," the police announced.
