A 39-year-old Albanian man, against whom an arrest warrant was issued for a triple murder attempt two years ago, surrendered to authorities in Crete, Greece and was arrested yesterday afternoon.
According to the Greek media " Protothema ", at around 6:00 PM, the 39-year-old's lawyer initially appeared at the police station and shortly after, the Albanian himself, whose name was not published, arrived and surrendered.
In recent days, lawyer Spyros Dimitriou had contacted security to hand over his client. After the bloody incident, the 39-year-old fled to Albania, where he has remained for a long time.
The incident for which the Albanian is accused took place on December 16, 2023 in Gazi, where the victims were three Greeks from Crete who were having fun in a nightclub in the area. The authorities had issued a warrant for the arrested man, who is now facing justice.
A group of six or seven men from Crete were partying in Gazi as one of them was getting married in the next few days and was having a bachelor party with friends. The group went through various nightclubs and at around 03:00 they went to another one.
At 6:00 they went out and went to eat at a pizzeria. Shortly after, while some people were eating, one of them shouted as a jeep passed by. Two people got out of the vehicle and one of them slapped one of the opponents. Blood ran high as the second person pulled out a pistol and shot at them, resulting in the injury of a 28-year-old man and two brothers, all from the Crete group, 'Protothema' reports.
The Attica Police followed up on the investigation and verifications revealed that the perpetrator was a 39-year-old Albanian man nicknamed "Nardi". He turned out to be one of the main members of one of the six criminal organizations dismantled by the Athens Security Sub-Directorate, as part of a major police operation with 50 arrests and 187 identifications.
These are groups that opened houses and farms, trafficked drugs and engaged in criminal activities, including controlling the security of nightclubs. One of them was the 39-year-old, who had also provided protection for nightclubs in Gazi.
