The Greek media have revealed today the testimony of the 33-year-old Albanian Emiliano Jakupi, who surrendered after injuring three young men from Crete in Athens.
He is accused of complicity in the attempted murder even though he simply shot one of the three injured with his shoulder, before his friend shot him with a gun. Meanwhile, the police continue intensive searches for the capture of 37-year-old Nardi Idrizi alias Fatbardh Idrizi.
"I met the 37-year-old a year ago in Athens, we have been close friends for 7 months. The first contact happened in a local cafe in "Agios Pavlos" in the center. Whenever he invited me for food or drink, I went with him. I did not know that he had a serious criminal record, nor did I know his name correctly. I knew him by another name and you told me otherwise. On Saturday night he called me at 2 am, I was sleeping, but I was not impressed because the 37-year-old had divorced 2 months ago and was mad after his very young girlfriend had left him. He told me "I'm not well and I want to go somewhere for a drink". I said "let me go because I'm very tired, I work in the morning and I have a problem with my stomach, I take medicine and I can't drink. I can't leave the house now, I don't have a car." Then he told me "get up, get ready and I will come to Melissia to pick you up. He really came by car, took me on the phone and told me that "I arrived and I'm waiting for you". I quickly dressed and went. He was not alone in the car. It was another person I didn't know.
We went to a bar in "Kolonaki". I had one drink and the 37 year old had about a dozen. Then I told him "go away", because time was passing and I couldn't take it anymore. In fact, I asked him if he could take me home or if I could take a taxi and go alone. Also, because of the medication I take, it doesn't make me drink alcohol. He told me to go for a drink in "Gazi" and then directly from "Atiki" street to take me home and not to spoil his fun, I agreed and went for another drink. In "Gazi" he continued to drink and I drank half. When we left the bar in "Gazi", because of the alcohol, he could not drive the car. He sees a pizzeria in front of the bar and says "sit in the car so I can get a pizza to eat". The other person who was with us left because he was small and couldn't take it anymore, so he and I stayed. He returned with the pizza in hand and ate it in the car.
Before he finished his food he went ahead and started the car. Shortly before it had rained and because the car was big, it went into a puddle of water and soaked the group of young people who were on the sidewalk. One of the young men turned around and said: "What are you doing, Ore...". He had a bottle in his hand and threw it at her. The car window was down and the 37-year-old man got angry. The jeep stopped and the other cars behind us also stopped. He goes downstairs and asks why: "To whom did you say... hours". I also go down to try to hold it. Then one of the young men said okay I didn't tell you.... He says "ok" and turns to go to the car. At that moment the two brothers from Crete come, approach me and spit in my face. Instinctively I slap him and then the other guy punches the 37 year old. Then things got out of control and the 37-year-old pulled out a gun and shot them. I didn't know he was carrying a gun. He turns and tells me. "Get in the car and let's go." I was scared. I didn't tell him anything. I had the feeling that if I told him something, it would come back to me too. As soon as I got into the jeep, I started and all I told him was to go to the Police and surrender. He wasn't talking. He only said: "I will take you home". He left me and disappeared. As soon as I got home, I started calling my lawyer. We talked and finally I decided with him to come to the Police Department and surrender".
The Greek media addressed the lawyer Stamatias Markou, who emphasized that "my client is devastated by the wounding of three young men and is shocked, he is accused of simple cooperation in the crime of attempted murder. He declares that this tragic development of a verbal episode was the result of another person and not his.
My client neither knew of the existence of the gun in the car nor could he imagine its existence. It should be noted that at 02:15 in the morning the driver and his vehicle were checked and the weapon was not found. At that time my client had not met the driver. He himself will ask for the cross-examination, so that they themselves can confirm his claims".
