Killed Arben Lleshin, Sokol Mjacaj and 12 officials appear today before the

The court of Elbasan will hold today the hearing for the appointment of security measures against the life convict Sokol Mjacaj, the director of the prison of Peqin, the head of the internal regime and other persons arrested after the murder in the cell of Arben Lleshi on December 15 .

Sources from the court announced that although the announcement of measures was planned for Monday, the accused will appear before the court on Tuesday at 10.00. The prosecutor of the case, Xhelian Seferi, submitted on Sunday the requests for the appointment of measures of arrest and imprisonment, which will be examined by judge Yrfet Shkreli.

In addition to the author Sokol Mjacaj, the prosecution has requested prison for the former director of Peqin prison, Kamber Hoxha, the head of the prison's internal regime, Qani Muça, as well as 10 employees, including the former prison police chief, Nikolin Gjonpali. They are accused of having violated the security rules in the prison, since they did not carry out checks on the convict Mjacaj, who had been moving around with weapons inside the prison for at least 20 days.

The preliminary investigation of the prosecution has found that the control scanners at the entrance of the prison - which were recently repaired, and some of the security cameras for observing and documenting the events - did not work there. The convict Sokol Mjacaj allegedly killed Arben Lleshi by order for revenge and injured his cellmate, Indrit Shaqja.

How the machine gun was smuggled into the prison remains a mystery, however, suspicions are that it was done via food parcels while the scanners were down. During this time, the check at the entrance to the prison was done manually by the employees, while the scanners were put into operation only a few days ago, after Sokol Mjacaj managed to get hold of the weapon he used in the crime.

The victim Arben Lleshi was sentenced to 32 years in prison for the murder of Agim Hoxha in England in 2012 and was serving his sentence in Albania. A few hours before the murder in the cell on December 15, the Ministry of Justice announced that Sokol Mjacaj would be isolated again in the 41 bis system, and this is suspected to have accelerated his plans. That day he went to the window of Arben Lleshi's cell and shot him, injuring his cellmate as well.
