37-year-old Besmir Ademi, who stabbed the mother of his three children in the parking lot in front of a computer store and then filmed her dying, is sentenced to life imprisonment.
The German court emphasized the seriousness of the defendant's guilt.
Although this legally allows for release from prison after 15 years, in practice it is almost impossible. The judgment is not final.
On the first day of the trial, the Albanian, who did not want to accept the separation from his wife, confessed that he killed 28-year-old Jetmira Beka.
"I left the children orphans. I would do anything to undo it. I don't remember the act. There is only one big black hole", said Besmir Ademi.
The bloody crime happened on May 20, 2023. Besmir Ademi had arranged for them to meet in a parking lot of Obi to hand over one of the three children to his wife. But instead of his daughter he came with a butcher knife.
According to the prosecution, he stabbed his wife 20 times, leaving her dead at the scene. Six of the stabbings were fatal. Several bones were broken by the force of the impact. Her sister tried to intervene but was slightly injured. Several customers at the hardware store witnessed the horrific attack.
After the bloody act, the killer filmed his wife to death with his cell phone and smiled at the same time. The cell phone and the murder weapon were never found.
The defendant, who had no previous convictions, was jealous and exercised "unbearably controlling behaviour" towards the woman. He was depressed, "combined with boundless anger that she had dared to escape his possession."
