Rrogozhina police have identified and arrested the suspected perpetrator of a fire that engulfed a significant area of land with fruit trees in the village of Ballaj.
The perpetrator has been identified as Izabel Aliu, 31. The young man is suspected of causing the fire, which later got out of control, while burning waste on his land.
"The suspected perpetrator of the fire that engulfed a large area of land with fruit trees, in the village of Ballaj, Rrogozhina, has been identified and arrested. As soon as the services of the Rrogozhina Police Station received the notification that yesterday evening, in the territory of the village of Ballaj, a fire had broken out, engulfing a large area of land with fruit trees, they immediately went to the place where the fire had started.
Thanks to rapid investigative actions, the Police services made it possible to identify, capture and arrest citizen IA, 31 years old, resident of Vilbashtovë, Rrogozhinë.
His arrest was made after, while burning waste on his land, the fire got out of control, encompassing a large area of land and fruit trees, in the village of Ballaj. The procedural materials were passed to the Durrës General Jurisdiction Prosecutor's Office.
"The State Police appeals to all residents not to light fires to burn waste or agricultural product residues, and to citizens to avoid throwing lit cigarettes near forested areas," the police announced.
