
British authorities have captured 20 Albanian immigrants in the English Channel, who were hiding on the deck of a luxury yacht, with the aim of illegally crossing into the United Kingdom.
The 19 men and 1 woman are expected to be deported to Albania, according to a spokesman for the British Home Office.
Meanwhile, the smugglers who helped them hide on the yacht have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Bleda Bega, 44, is charged with “facilitating unlawful entry” into the country. She has been remanded in custody to appear at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court. Two other people, also Albanian nationals, were arrested on suspicion of the same offence. One was released from criminal investigation but has been arrested for being in the UK illegally, the Home Office confirmed.
