A tragic event has shocked the Italian city of Piacenza, where a young Albanian woman lost her life after falling from a height near her apartment.
The victim is Anxhela Byku, 20 years old, who died in hospital after suffering serious injuries from a fall of about eight meters in the courtyard of the building where she lived, on Via Beverora Street.
According to local Italian media, authorities suspect that this was a tragic accident, and not a deliberate act or the intervention of third parties. Investigations into the circumstances of the incident are being carried out by the Arma dei Carabinieri.
The young woman, known to relatives and friends as "Angi," was found lying in the building's yard by a neighbor on Tuesday morning, in a very serious condition. She was immediately transported to the hospital, but did not survive her injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the 20-year-old was cooking at home when she was distracted by the doorbell and left the apartment without taking her keys with her. After being left outside and unable to enter, she is suspected of attempting to climb the facade of the building, holding onto the railings, to reach the balcony of the apartment on the second floor.
During this attempt, she allegedly lost her balance and fell, suffering fatal injuries.
