
A well-organized Italian-Albanian drug trafficking network has been busted in Venice, with 14 people arrested, including 6 Italians and 8 Albanians.
The measures taken by the Prosecutor's Office were concentrated between the provinces of Venice and Padua and included, among the local police of several operational units, the State Police in Albania, Germany and Spain. The suspects are accused of possession and sale of drugs and extortion.
The investigation was initially launched by the Carabinieri and took place between November 2022 and December 2023, where it uncovered the operational base of the trafficking group in Mira (Venice) and established drug trafficking activity between the Treviso, Padua and Venice areas.
Further, several episodes of extortion by criminal organizations against drug addicts who had not paid their debts and were in debt. One of them, an episode proven by evidence according to investigators, was forced to pay 5 thousand euros, after having previously been sprayed with alcohol and threatened to set him on fire if he did not pay, informs the ANSA agency.
The gang secured a weekly sale of cocaine worth 150 thousand euros (100 euros per gram), the drug sold by couriers and collected by associates in warehouses and homes. The estimated turnover was over 700 thousand euros per month.
