A 41-year-old Albanian was arrested after being suspected of being involved in a drug trafficking network in the Siena area, in Italy.
The operation was carried out in the forest near San Gimignano, where the suspect also had his "base" of narcotics. After observation, officers discovered that he hid the cocaine in glass jars and then arranged it in the bushes of the forest or in holes that he had specially dug.
As material evidence, a quantity of cocaine weighing approximately 200 grams was discovered, which if sold could have generated over 10 thousand euros in profits.
Officers had intensified checks in a wooded area near San Gimignano, which had also been monitored in previous days for suspected drug-related activity.
Thanks in part to the use of a video camera, investigators documented the movements of the 41-year-old, who drove to the scene in a van. After parking the vehicle, the suspect entered the woods to retrieve a buried glass jar.
Inside the container, hermetically sealed and protected from moisture with rice, were hidden several vacuum-packed packets of cocaine, with a total weight of more than 180 grams, Italian media reports.
Less than 17 grams of cocaine was hidden in a pack of chewing gum. A subsequent search of the detainee's home in Poggibonsi resulted in the seizure of over 6,600 euros in cash, which investigators believe to be possible proceeds from drug trafficking.
The Albanian was booked as a contingent by the Italian police, also for drugs, while he was under house arrest and returned to prison cells for the same charge.
