An environmental interception dated July 24, 2024, conducted by the operational teams of the Bari Prosecutor's Office, sheds light on the method of communication through codes between drug traffickers.
The narcotic substance in the conversations was described as "meat." According to the communications, the meat was supposed to be from "...Kukës...".
A conversation of this nature took place between one of the members of the group, named Shkëlzen Daci, who spoke to Ergys Kastrati alias "Daja", interested in a quantity of 4 or 5 kg of Kukës quality meat.
According to the investigative file provided by journalist Elton Qyno, the identification of Shkëlzen Daci in this criminal case was carried out through voice recognition by the Albanian language translator, who had previously been selected to perform the same task and passed the information on to investigators in Albania.
From the analysis of environmental intercepts recorded in vehicles at the disposal of Ergys Kastrati, it emerged that this suspect, in almost all cases, was addressed by the nickname "Daja".
This term is used in the criminal field to refer to those who hold important roles within a criminal clan, while "flesh like that of Kukës" refers to the Albanian city of Kukës, in which he was born.
The conversation is emblematic due to the connection of the term "Uncle" with the person Shkëlzen Daci, when Kastrati was talking on the phone with Shkëlzen Daci, whom he cryptically asked if he had any narcotic substances:
Shkëlzen Daci says to Ergys Kastrati on the phone: "Hey... do you have any meat left at home?", continuing to add in the conversation: "...I was saying... yes, 4-5 kg of pieces of meat. Do you have them there...? "
And after receiving a confirmation response from Ergys Kastrati, Daci continued to ask if his son was there to do the transportation:
"...okay. I'm outside here, is your dad's son there...?"
But after Shkëlzen Daci learned that this mode of transportation could not be carried out, he decided to meet him at his home, despite the restrictions imposed based on the security measure "house arrest", to which he had been subjected in another criminal file.
"...go ahead, I'll come in, I'll come in... I don't care at all...", adding: "...now I'll go to your place as soon as I find parking...", and again: "...but give me the number and I'll write it down. Anyway... go ahead, I came...!!".
Another element, which certainly identified Ergys Kastrati's destination towards the house where Shkëlzen Daci was locked up, came from the GPS device installed in the vehicle driven by Kastrati, through which it turned out that the car stopped its movement on "Palmiro Togliatti" street, near the house where Shkëlzen Daci lived, in "Barletta", on "Regina Margherita" street./ Syri
